Vilja is a medium sized crossbreed of around six years old.
Vilja is a Mizil dog, rescued from a shelter that was closing around three years ago when all dogs in there were destined to be killed. Over time most of the two hundred and fifty dogs have found homes, Vilja is one of the last twenty dogs to make it to a U.K. foster home.
On arrival Vilja was completely shut down, she didn’t really even move unless made to just stayed wherever she was put. Food and water had to be taken to her as she didn’t have the courage or the inclination to move to get it. Over the course of the first few days her depression started to lift and a move to a quieter and less dog populated foster home has proven to be the making of her. She’s not miraculously transformed into a “normal “ dog but she has begun to show an interest in the world around her and even display some free will in movement around the home and garden. Walks were a trial to begin with but she is showing less reluctance every day and will even now jump into the van herself to go to the woods and a wagging tail has been seen more than once!
These dogs are always a pleasure to foster. They demand nothing and every tiny step forward for them is a major triumph and celebration for their fosterer. Of course the biggest triumph is adoption day. Vilja will continues to grow in confidence in the coming weeks but this can happen in her forever home, a simple recipe of love and time is all she needs to flourish. Vilja will need a quiet home with no small children and at least one other dog.
Vilja is quiet and reserved but enjoying gentle strokes now. She doesn’t approach me for fuss but lifts her leg up for belly rubs.
She’s now enjoying her walks. Doesn’t pull on the lead. Haven’t seen her run yet.
Likes company of other dogs, but she’s not boisterous. Fine with kids but she wouldn’t want to be in a busy home. She just wants an easy life. Has met a cat on a few occasions while on a lead and shown no signs of aggression.
Our adoption fee is £270. The dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless they are too young)
