Tyke is a German Shepherd who we believe to be around 8 to 9 years old.
We met Tyke on our trip to the Botosani public shelter in Romania back in early March. My weakness for elderly German Sheperds drew me to him out of the 700 dogs there. We learnt that Tyke was taken to the shelter by his owner a couple of years earlier along eith several other small pedigree dogs to be put to sleep. The other dogs were more desirable and got adopted very quickly but Tyke had been labelled as a biter and nobody had looked twice at him or touched him since.
As soon as I entered his kennel I could tell he was not a biter and after spending time with him and taking him for a walk it was clear he was an affectionate and sweet boy who had been severely misjudged.
As soon as we hit home we were hit with lock down so it was three months before we could finally bring Tyke to the UK. He is here now and looking for an extra special new home and we will only let him go to the best of the best 😉
Tyke is a kind and loyal boy who humbles is with how sweet and cuddly he is. He loves his walks and is thrilled to set his paws down on grass again after the years of concrete at the shelter. He is a little underweight and a little stiff on his back legs so exercise needs to be monitored carefully and supplements in his diet would benefit him greatly. Tyke does have a heart murmur which has no impact on his health at the moment but may require treatment later on to keep him with us for as long as possible.
It absolutely breaks my heart to think of the life this special boy has led so far. He is so happy to be here and so grateful for any time and attention spent on him. He deserves only the best life has to offer from here on. A quiet retirement home eith an abundance of love and pampering is all we ask for him. He is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
