Doris is a medium sized crossbreed of around six years old and sadly she has spent most of those years incarcerated in the Radauti public shelter in Romania.

It is very hard to put into words the conditions in this shelter, I have spent a couple of days there and that was more than enough. The volunteers that care for the dogs do their very best for them but conditions there are harsh and many do not survive the experience no matter how hard they try.

Doris is, understandably, rather insecure in her new surroundings after spending so long with no freedom and no comforts. Her lack of human interaction over the years has made her cautious of new people but she is learning steadily what it is to be a loved member of a household. She mixes beautifully with other dogs and would like a dog companion in her new home. Many reading this have taken on one of our under socialised dogs over the years and have obtained so much joy from watching the dogs grow in confidence and happiness and Doris will definitely be one of those exceptionally rewarding cases.

Doris is now enjoying her walks but needs to gain experience of the big wide world. She enjoys a fuss from the people she knows in her foster home but is still wary of strangers touching her. She is a bright and intelligent dog whose curiosity makes her quick to learn. The lessons are plentiful but she’s a keen and cooperative student and in a few months from now she will be a fantastic family member.

Doris fostered in Norwich, Norfolk.

Our adoption fee is £270, they are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless the dog is too young to be neutered).
