Dina is a six year old medium sized crossbreed.
Dina is one of the last four Mizil dogs we raised funds for recently, and the first of the four to be ready for rehoming.
She was one of over two hundred dogs rescued from being slaughtered at the Mizil public shelter in Romania four years ago. Many were terrified, shut down and traumatised and it’s taken four long years to get each dog over to the UK, rehabilitated and rehomed.
Dina was quite unique amongst these dogs as she wasn’t running from us, snapping or panicking at our approach. She was simply locked in a deep depression, submitted to everything we wanted to do to her with zero response or recognition that it was even happening. We bathed her, groomed her, lead trained her, walked her. She went along with all of it with the sole aim of it being over soon so she could huddle back down in her crate and shut us all out again. It was really just beyond sad.
Dina was recently moved to a fosterer with only one other dog and more time for her, we hoped that Chloe could get through her barriers. The results were quite instant and quite remarkable.
Two weeks on and Dina is a different dog, she is happy, responsive and her tail is out from between her legs and wagging!
Here is what Chloe has to say about her now…
“Dina is a very sweet and relaxed girl but she is also very shy and needs time to get to know people around her. Once trust is built you start to see how much love she has to give and enjoys a fuss from her humans.
Dina definitely needs to be homed with another dog
and will be more suited to a quiet home with people home most of the day. Now that she has emerged from her shell she has shown that she is not ok with cats!”
Dina is fostered near Norwich, Norfolk.

Our adoption fee is £300, they are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless the dog is too young to be neutered).
PLEASE NOTE IT IS SAFE RESCUE POLICY THAT ALL DOGS ADOPTED FROM US MUST WEAR A SLIP LEAD TO BE WALKED FOR THE DURATION OF THEIR LIVES. TOO MANY DOGS ARE LOST FROM SLIPPING OUT OF COLLARS AND HARNESSES AND MANY OF OUR DOGS ARE TIMID DUE TO PAST ILL TREATMENT AND LIKELY TO PANIC WHILST OUT AND ABOUT. IT IS ABSOLUTELY OK TO USE THESE THINGS ADDITIONALLY TO SLIP LEADS BUT NOT INSTEAD OF. WE ALSO REQUEST THAT EXTENDABLE RETRACTABLE LEADS ARE NEVER USED ON OUR DOGS. IF YOU ARE OPPOSED TO SLIP LEADS PLEASE DO NOT ENQUIRE ABOUT OUR DOGS AS THIS IS NOT NEGOTIABLE. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.
