Darlene is a small to medium crossbreed of around eight to nine years old.
Darlene is one of our very special dogs that arrived a few months ago so traumatised that nobody could touch her without her being utterly terrified and lashing out. It has taken some time but Darlene is now advanced enough in her rehabilitation to move on. In her multi dog household environment she is accepting strokes from humans but will avoid it if that option is available. It is now easy to get a lead on and off her and she is enjoying her walks. What she needs now is a very patient, experienced and loving person or family to take her forward to enjoying human interaction rather than simply tolerating it whilst remaining tense throughout.
This is a common pattern and we have seen so many dogs move on from us at this stage and go onto become normal pets that may just always remain wary of strangers because they have good reason. Darlene is good motivated and I’m a home with only one or two other dogs it would be possible to give her the one to one attention she needs to love her forward that final step in her journey.
Darlene needs an adult home and must have at least one other steady dog in residence as she would be really uncomfortable with no canine companion. Please do not apply if you do not already have a dog at home.
We have stayed many times how special these dogs are and how very rewarding it is to watch them flourish. Darlene may not love you overnight but the very best things in life are worth working for!
Darlene fostered Norwich Norfolk.
Our adoption fee is £300, they are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless the dog is too young to be neutered).
