Alan

Fostered in Gorleston-on-sea

Description

Alan is fostered in Gorleston-on-sea. He is a sad looking small to medium crossbreed of around 9 years.

Alan was a long term resident of the Botosani public shelter in Romania and we agreed to take him after seeing a very sad picture of him hunched in a corner looking like he’d given up on life. This was around two and a half years ago and we only now feel that he has recovered enough to find a very caring and understanding new home.

Alan has obviously had a hard life and looks at most humans with suspicion and fear. He has recently made a little progress in his foster home, now enjoying walks with a more relaxed tail and his head now lifts from the floor taking in his surroundings. However if he catches you looking his head will lower and he will back away. He pretends not to like his foster mum and growls at her, but likes her to be in sight. He gets on with the other dogs in the house, but likes his own space to relax. He has shown interest in playing with other dogs and toys if he thinks humans aren’t watching. He is slowly becoming more excepting of human touch, although his first instinct is still to get away. Alan doesn’t like being left, but will settle and greets with a wagging tail when you return.  Alan is much loved in his foster home and has kept them amused with his funny grumpy ways. He will need a quieter home where he isn’t the only dog and someone is home most of the time. Alan has met a cat and showed no signs of aggression.

This is not a dog for a novice owner. He is not a dog for someone who wants a pet they can cuddle and kiss. He is a dog for someone who really wants to help a dog that’s had a rotten life even though he may not give much back or be grateful for a while yet. He is a dog for someone who simply wants to offer him a safe home in the hope that one day he will trust enough to love back but accepts that may take a very long time and may never happen at all. He is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
