We adopted Luka in December 2021 and the whole adoption process was seamless and professional. We had never adopted a rescue before so we lacked experience and confidence. SR were there for us every step of the way and, in particular, Luka’s foster mum, Michelle and Claire from SR. Luka came with his challenges and we know he will always be a reserved lad. Would we do it again through SR - yes in a heartbeat as we have an adored addition to our family in Luka.

I rescued a beautiful little dog called Dilys from Safe Rescue five years ago. She was already lead trained and had no behavioral issues apart from being timid and nervous initially. She soon came out of her shell and is now very confident, friendly with children, cats, men and women. She isn’t scared of fireworks and rarely barks. An absolute dream in every way. My only sadness is that I didn’t get her five years before but she was in Romania and there are so many there that need rescuing. The reason I turned to Safe Rescue was because all the local rescues couldn’t guarantee that any of their dogs were cat tested and I liked the fact that Dilys was part of a pack in the Safe Rescue house, not in an individual kennel. This is surely a kinder way to house dogs while they wait to be rehabilitated and rehomed. I would never rescue a dog that was flown straight from Europe to be collected at the airport. Dilys was vetted at the safe rescue house and deemed to be ready for rehoming, as all dogs should be. The RSPCA and other rescues should attempt to keep suitable dogs together for their mental health and not keep them in separate kennels. It can lead to behaviour problems if they are kept that way for a long time. The one thing I would say that If anyone rescues a dog from Safe Rescue please listen to the advice and instructions re keeping them on a slip lead for a long time. Don’t be an arse and think you know better, they are flight risks and even Dilys ran off twice months after I’d got her. Luckily she didn’t go far and I found her but I had a relationship with her by this time and she came to me very happily. Many safe rescue dogs escape from stupid adopters and it’s very difficult to get them back. You won’t regret getting a dog from them, they really know what they are doing!!

Fantastic dog Rescue charity. Communication was excellent and helped to reassure us a long the process of picking up James our beautiful rescue dog. The advice we were given was excellent and spot on. We were also able to get advice afterwards when James was still nervous with my husband and advice was fantastic and reassuring.

For clarity I am a volunteer home checker for Safe Rescue. I would not do this if I didn’t believe in the work they do to rescue dogs. I adopted my dog from Safe Rescue over 4 years ago now. He was very shy when we got him. But working with them we have got him a lot more confident in himself. People underestimate their lifetime back up. It really is back up for as long as you own the dog. They are amazing.

An excellent rescue. All foreign dog rescue should be like this. The dogs are fostered and thoroughly assessed before going to their forever homes. Our boys advert was extremely accurate and he's been a dream. Would recommend to anyone.
